108: Promises and standing stone mysteries, and also published on the 15/06/2026

Written and published by Linden Alexander Pentecost on the 15th of June 2026, this article on this page is one of three separate articles I have published today, one of which was an article or blog post published on a different website to this. This article was published in the UK, no AI was used nor is it used in any of my written work, and this article on this page is unrelated to and separate from any and all of my other publications; and contains 1087 words. The photo was also taken by the author. Note that this and several of my other publications recently relate to 2016 in some way, although of course this stuff was published in 2026!

Recently I went to a standing stone at a place called Caolas on the Isle of Tiree. This standing stone is located not far from a wind turbine, and a wee distance from the road. I went past this standing stone but wasn’t sure how easily I could get there from the road, but in the end, I did walk there, a short distance, and reached it. I also noticed several other possible standing stones (perhaps unrecorded) in the nearby area, which I may talk about in some future publication.

Photo below: the standing stone at Caolas on the Isle of Tiree, note the cloaked figure shape, although less obvious as the stone is partially toppled, but not completely, and the stone is not forgotten.

The main standing stone at Caolas, the recorded, known one, is akin to some of the standing stones one finds elsewhere in western Scotland and Northern Norway, often the stones seem heavier at the top than in the middle, and bare a resemblance to hooded human figures. The standing stone at Caolas is in many ways closely akin to the standing stone at An Carra on South Uist, and to that at Bréibhig on the Isle of Barra, whilst another is located on Islay, and there are many others. At one of these such sites, one which I will not mention by name, I had a kind of experience once. In terms of telepathy, this experience back in 2016 was the most profound I have ever experienced.
I don’t really know how much detail I wish to go into. But to summarise, I could neither see nor hear these beings, but I was aware of them, in my mind’s eye I had a vague sense of them being tall, clad in light, having large crowns, appearing a bit like the UrSkeks. They communicated with me telepathically, which I experienced by answers coming to my mind, quite complex answers, before I had even finished formulating my questions. I learned that they exist outside of time as we know it, that at these stone circles and such, they can observe us and communicate, that they are linked to the stones themselves, and that they are guardians, guardians in the background. This knowledge stirred memories and feelings in me, and it was also communicated to me in some way that human time and “their” time are like different flows of energy, but that their “time” energy flows through many humans. In a sense, it was almost that they regarded me as one of them, one of them who had forgotten until then and who had immersed himself into the human world and human time. In a sense it felt generally as though their attitude towards me could be vocalised as: “Yes, now do you understand why you feel what you do about this place and about the Hebrides?”

I have realised that it is possible to experience similar things at other standing stones and stone circles, but that generally speaking something profound only happens when a person is spiritually drawn to a place on a very personal level, and when the person is in tune with themselves enough, and with creation, to be able to receive the message. Being genuine and simply understanding mentally that connecting to these places is very important to me, is another big part of it.
Anyway, going back to Caolas on the island of Tiree, I went here and made a promise. To make a promise to such things of majesty is a big deal, in my opinion, spiritually speaking. I promised that after I eventually leave this world when I am old, that I will find my way back to my cat and to those I love. I also implied that my interest in the ancient Hebrides and my love for those landscapes is extremely important to me - and I promised to follow that journey and to be open to whatever messages I need to be open to. The standing stone was silent, but after making these promises, its energy changed. It was as though it seemed like a telephone, metaphorically, with nobody communicating through the other end, yet I know that my promise was heard, and that I was heard, I just feel that.
A few days later, I visited a stone circle on Tiree, in a different part of the island. I felt the energy there, but no communication. However, I made an offering of cow’s milk at the “guardian” stone of the stone circle, and as I started to walk away, I felt that same feeling I felt in 2016, that they were “there”, but this time behind me and watching me walk away. I turned back around and asked in my mind “what am I here to do?” and the only thing that popped into my mind as any kind of answer was something like “come here”. So I walked back towards them and spent some more time there, but felt no other thing that could be classed as “telepathy”. When in England after coming home, I experienced a similar-ish message at Birkrigg Common Stone Circle in Cumbria, which I explain about in my most recently published book.

Anyway, the primary reason for writing this article is to express some things which I believe are important into published writing, and to encourage others to view these sites for the sacred places that they are. This article is dedicated to the guardians of the standing stones and I pray that we have their blessing; and is the second to last article to be published on this website BookofDunBarra, whilst the last books to be published on this website have already been published.
